Beneath the Blast - Review Roundup (Updated 21/6/2016)

It's been a good while since Beneath the Blast launched, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to share a selection of the feedback I've heard from reviewers. First off, I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who's taken the time to review or rate the book, whether they're professionals or enthusiasts, and whether it's on Amazon, Goodreads, or their own site. Hearing what I did right (and where I went wrong) has been incredibly valuable in continuing to evolve as a writer, and I hope my future projects can be as well received!

Beneath the Blast written by the talented Jeff Rorik is the perfect read for those who really enjoy a character driven piece. With a memorable cast of characters that you will be rooting for and others that you wish would get their comeuppance... (it) was one of those books that I just could not put down. After the fantastically impactful opening chapter, I found myself looking forward to picking up where I last left off... there is something about the plethora of characters, driven by their very different personalities, strengths and faults that draw you in to this cramped world and guides you through. Musings of a Starving Author:
Overall, Blast brings a varied and fleshed-out cast of characters.  Interestingly, this is accomplished with rapidly-shifting swirls of characterization, sliding from character to character for short scenes before moving on to the next. You might be concerned that this could cause a breakdown of the plot.  After all, if every character gets their swirls in the mix, doesn’t that tells us all about our antagonists’ plans?  Again, credit the chef here for providing an expert hand here.  While there are character scenes that foreshadow things to come, it stops there at foreshadowing.  I can’t remember a single scene ruined by the characters revealing the menu too early. J.B. Garner was also kind enough to interview me about my writing. You can read that here!

Boom Baby Reviews:
Over all, this was a fun book and I liked the premise. The way our author goes about showing the different perspective in these quick views, the layers, and the way it marks time with each chapter, like a countdown, all reminded me of Crichton and that is a good comparison to come from me. Author Ingrid Hall:
I think that Beneath the Blast is a great read. There was a lot of suspense throughout the plot. I was constantly thinking about what drama will unveil between which characters. In many ways, the book is a microcosm of life. It emphasizes freewill of people, consequences of actions, and group think. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to add some good ole’ television drama to their life. (Full review)
